Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project of the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 13 June 1987. Smith tells of her early years and religious experiences in New Orleans, Louisiana. She describes her conversion to the Mormon Church and its influence on her marriage and her relationship with her husband and child. She comments of the experiences of other Black Mormons.
